One of the important safety parts of your car is the taillights, even though they might not seem fancy. If a car doesn’t have its lights on at night, it’s very hard for other drivers to see it. That’s why it’s a big deal that NHTSA and Ford are recalling 242,669 Ford Mavericks made between 2022 and 2024 because some of them have taillights that don’t work.
Ford found out about this issue because they got reports from people who had problems with their taillights. Fleet data also showed that some taillights weren’t lighting up properly.
The problem is that the part of the car that controls the lights not sending the right power to the bulbs, so the main lights don’t come on. But the brake lights and turn signals still work.
Thankfully, there haven’t been any accidents or injuries because of this issue. But it’s still dangerous to have taillights that don’t work. The fix for this problem is simple. The dealer will update the software in the part of the car that controls the lights. And like with any recall, it won’t cost anything for the owner to get it fixed.
Ford will send letters to owners to let them know about the recall, and if they have any questions, they can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332. The reference number for this recall from Ford is 24S24.
