Aston Martin, the team Fernando Alonso drives for, has requested a review of the 10-second penalty and three points on Alonso’s racing license. This penalty was given to Alonso after he collided with Carlos Sainz during the Chinese Grand Prix sprint race.

A meeting with the stewards has been scheduled for 8 am in Miami on Friday. They will decide if Aston Martin has gathered enough new evidence to warrant another look at the incident.

Alonso didn’t want to talk much about the case before the meeting in Miami. But he mentioned that Aston Martin is looking for important answers regarding why he has received such harsh penalties in recent races. This includes a penalty he got in the Australian Grand Prix for his defensive driving that led to a crash with George Russell.

Alonso said, “Sometimes people have different opinions, just like in any sport. In China, most people were enjoying the sprint race and the battles. But I got the toughest penalty of the race, which was confusing. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

Alonso also mentioned that it’s important for him and the team to understand why certain decisions were made. He said, “We have to accept the rules, even if we don’t always agree with them. But in the last two races in Australia and China, I got the toughest penalties. So, it’s important to make sure everything is okay and nothing else is happening.”
