In a rare interview, Mintzlaff, a top executive at Red Bull, dismissed rumors that Verstappen might leave for Mercedes in 2025. He criticized Mercedes boss Wolff for openly discussing his interest in Verstappen while Mercedes is struggling.

Mintzlaff said, “I understand Toto Wolff’s pressure, but he should focus on his own team’s challenges. It’s also about respect. Talking about other teams’ personnel isn’t right.”

Despite a shaky start to the season for Verstappen, Mintzlaff assured that there’s no indication of him wanting to leave Red Bull before his contract ends in 2028. He said, “Max hasn’t shown any desire to leave. He just wants things to calm down. That’s what we all want for long-term success, whether in football or Formula 1.”

When asked if he could understand why Verstappen would consider leaving, Mintzlaff replied, “No, I can’t think of any reason. Max wants the fastest car, and he has it with us. He wants to be a world champion, and his best chances are with us. Max is loyal. He appreciates the trust placed in him by Horner and Marko. Also, Red Bull is a brand he strongly identifies with. So, there’s every reason to stay and none to leave.”
