Honda has been having a tough time in the 2024 MotoGP season, despite making efforts to improve during the winter. Even with new rules to help, they’re at the bottom of the team rankings with only 13 points. Their riders, Joan Mir and Johann Zarco, weren’t happy with a new test bike they tried out.
Team manager Alberto Puig talked about how they’re still figuring out how to make the bike better. He said, “We need to understand where we’re going so we can make progress.” He also mentioned that even though they’re working hard, they haven’t found the right path yet.
Puig’s words are different from what rider Joan Mir said. Mir thought they had found a good direction after testing in Spain. But he didn’t like the test bike either, even though he had tried it before.
Honda is trying everything to get back to the front of the pack. They’re using all four of their riders to test new parts quickly. They’re also working closely with their satellite team, LCR. Both Zarco and Nakagami are helping shape the new bike.
Puig said, “We’re trying many things to find a solution because we’re still not where we want to be.” He mentioned that the recent test in Jerez was important because all four riders tried different things. They’re hoping to learn a lot from it.
