Nigerian defense company EPAIL has successfully delivered twenty EP2063NG01 Light Tactical Armored Vehicles (LTAVs) to the Defence Headquarters, aiming to enhance security measures within the country. These vehicles were showcased for the first time during the 24th Combat Support Services Training Week in 2023, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s defense capabilities.

The EP2063NG01 LTAV is a product of EPAIL and is based on the Chinese-made Dongfeng CSK131 Mengshi platform, which traces its lineage to earlier generations constructed on Hummer H1 chassis. This technological foundation ensures a robust and reliable platform for Nigeria’s defense needs, equipped with advanced weaponry and communication systems.

During the handover ceremony on May 8, 2024, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, emphasized the enhanced capabilities of these LTAVs. He highlighted their ability to detect and engage adversaries from a distance, facilitating seamless military operations critical for addressing security challenges.

EPAIL not only delivered the LTAVs but also committed to providing comprehensive support services. This includes operator training, maintenance, spare parts, and repair services, ensuring the longevity and operational readiness of the acquired vehicles, thus maximizing their effectiveness in safeguarding national security.

In a forward-looking strategy, EPAIL’s chairman, Engineer Kola Balogun, announced plans to expand beyond the domestic market. The company aims to export these LTAVs, attracting foreign investment into Nigeria’s defense sector. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote indigenous defense manufacturing and bolster the country’s economic growth through technological innovation and international partnerships.

Furthermore, EPAIL’s LTAVs, such as the EP2063NG01, represent a significant advancement in Nigeria’s defense capabilities, equipped with cutting-edge features like onboard computers, digital mapping software, satellite communication, and night-vision cameras. These technologies enhance situational awareness and operational effectiveness, empowering Nigerian security forces in their mission to maintain peace and stability within the nation’s borders.
