In April 2024, Bentley bid farewell to its iconic W12 engine, concluding its legacy with the production of the Bentley Batur Convertible, limited to just 16 units. Following this milestone, the luxury automaker revealed its successor, the Ultra Performance Hybrid V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Boasting over 740 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, along with an estimated electric range of 50 miles, the new powertrain sets a new standard for Bentley’s performance lineup. As a result, Bentley made the strategic decision to discontinue the Continental GT V8, Continental GTC V8, and Flying Spur V8 in select regions, paving the way for the transition to hybrid technology.
The V8 engine, developed in collaboration with Porsche and Audi, has been a cornerstone of Bentley’s lineup since its introduction in 2012. With its seamless blend of power and efficiency, it has garnered widespread acclaim among enthusiasts and critics alike.
Looking ahead, Bentley plans to expand its hybrid offerings, with plug-in hybrid V8 setups slated for the Continental GT and Flying Spur lines. Furthermore, the brand is poised to embrace electric mobility, with plans to introduce an electric vehicle based on the Premium Performance Electric platform by 2026.
