In a heart-pounding spectacle at the Laguna Seca Raceway, the Porsche 963, piloted by Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet, clinched a thrilling victory, marking a significant milestone for Porsche in the IMSA series. This triumph not only secured the 600th win for a Porsche racing car in the series but also marked the 100th triumph for the Penske team in sports car racing.

Adding to the celebration, the sister car, driven by championship leaders Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron, secured third place, maintaining its impressive podium streak. Furthermore, AO Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 R emerged victorious in the GTD class, further solidifying Porsche’s dominance on the track.

Under perfect summer conditions and amidst a record-breaking crowd, the IMSA series once again delivered a riveting showcase of motorsport prowess over 2 hours and 40 minutes. With a combination of strategic brilliance, stellar driving performances, and exceptional tire durability, the Porsche Penske Motorsport works team maneuvered its way to the podium.

In a nail-biting finish, Le Mans winner Nick Tandy executed a decisive move in the final minutes, propelling the No. 6 car past the leading Cadillac to claim victory, securing the factory team’s second win of the season in North America. Reflecting on this momentous achievement, Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, expressed his elation, highlighting the collective effort of the Porsche teams and drivers.

Roger Penske, CEO and founder of Penske Corporation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of the milestone victory for his team and expressing his excitement for future endeavors, including the iconic Le Mans race. Jonathan Diuguid, Managing Director of Porsche Penske Motorsport, lauded the exceptional performance of Tandy and Jaminet, underscoring the team’s commitment to excellence.
