The Financial Times organized a summit called the Future of the Car, where 82 speakers discussed transportation. One speaker, Lynn Calder from Ineos Automotive, talked about the company’s plans to grow.
Ineos Automotive is known for making tough off-road vehicles. They want to expand while staying true to this specialty. Their first step is the Fusilier midsize SUV, set to launch in 2027. This SUV will come in electric and range-extended versions.
Calder shared some details about the Fusilier’s powertrains. The electric version will go about 250 miles on a charge. The range-extended version will have a smaller battery, giving it about 170 miles on its own, with a fuel-powered generator to recharge the battery.
After the Fusilier, Ineos plans to make two more SUVs. One will be larger than the Grenadier, and the other will be smaller. These SUVs won’t be as focused on off-roading as the Grenadier. The larger one might aim for a more luxurious feel, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
Ineos is thinking about building a factory in the United States to support its growth. Currently, they have a factory in France. Building in the U.S. would help meet demand and avoid import tariffs. The decision on a U.S. factory will depend on where they decide to build the Fusilier.
Ineos aims to sell 200,000 to 300,000 vehicles worldwide within a decade. They are committed to making off-road 4×4 vehicles and have no plans to change that.
