The Kia EV6 has been a favorite among our staff since its 2022 debut, and now it’s gearing up for a refresh in the 2025 model year. Kia recently revealed the Korean-spec version of the EV6, highlighting new styling cues and a larger battery. While teaser shots were released earlier this month, this is our first comprehensive look at the updated model.
Following similar updates seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in March, the Kia EV6 will replace its 77.4-kWh battery with a new 84.0-kWh pack. This upgrade is expected to enhance its maximum range significantly. For instance, the updated Hyundai pack is anticipated to increase the EV6’s current 303-mile estimate for rear-drive models to around 325 miles.
Consequently, we expect the EV6’s estimated range for rear-drive models to improve from 310 miles to approximately 330 miles. Previously, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive Wind model achieved 230 miles on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test with a full charge. The larger battery is the most substantial change for the EV6, but it’s not the only update.
The most notable visual change is the redesigned headlights, featuring angular C-shaped LED running lights that wrap around the main lighting units. The taillights retain their swooping shape but now include a new triangular swoop at each end. Additionally, the GT-Line model receives updated front and rear bumpers to set it apart from other models.
Inside, the updated EV6 boasts a “more sophisticated panoramic curved display,” although specific differences remain unclear. Similar to the outgoing model, the digital gauge cluster and infotainment screens are housed behind a single curved piece of glass.
New interior features include a redesigned steering wheel, an improved wireless charging pad for better phone security, a fingerprint-authentication system, and updated infotainment software with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These updates are expected to be incorporated into the U.S.-spec EV6 when it launches, likely soon now that the updated model has been revealed in Korea.
