Jeep is gearing up for the highly anticipated debut of the new Jeep Wagoneer S, slated to be revealed next Thursday, May 30. In a recent development, Jeep has treated fans with a teaser video showcasing the electric Wagoneer engaged in a thrilling race against the Tesla Model Y Performance. This teaser not only provides an exhilarating sneak peek but also offers confirmation of additional specifications.
The nearly two-minute teaser, available on YouTube and Jeep’s social media platforms, was shot at Willow Springs Raceway in California. A disclaimer at the beginning”dramatization” sets the tone for the video. You can watch it below to see for yourself. In essence, the video showcases the Jeep Wagoneer S in a mock race against a Tesla Model Y Performance.
While the video doesn’t declare a clear winner, the Wagoneer S is seen pulling ahead in the final shot. Jeep boasts a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.4 seconds for the Wagoneer S, a tenth of a second quicker than previous claims. With an electric motor on each axle, the all-wheel-drive Wagoneer S will produce 600 horsepower.
This figure had been mentioned before, but the video reveals a torque output of 617 pound-feet, making it 28 pound-feet shy of the Hellcat V-8-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which makes a surprising cameo. When Jeep first introduced the Wagoneer S concept in 2022, the target range was set at 400 miles.
As of now, Jeep has not disclosed any specific pricing details for the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S. The official reveal is set for Thursday, May 30, and it is possible that more information, including pricing, will be provided at that time. Given its position as a luxury electric SUV with advanced features and impressive performance specs, it is expected to be priced competitively within the high-end electric SUV market segment.
