It didn’t take long for Ford to wrap up the application process for the limited-production 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. In just over a month since Mustang Day on April 17th, Ford received over 7,500 applications from potential buyers in the US and Canada. Now, in June, people in Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East will get their chance to apply.
Ford’s Mega Plan
Ford mentioned that more than a quarter of the applicants already own a Mustang, and one in five have a car with similar performance to the 800hp Mustang GTD. The applications were for either the 2025 or 2026 model year, but Ford hasn’t revealed how many cars they plan to produce each year. With so many applicants, there might be some disappointed fans.
Next, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD will head to Europe, where it will appear at events like the Le Mans and Spa-Francorchamps races, as well as the Goodwood Festival of Speed. After that, it will undergo testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, where it aims to achieve a lap time of under seven minutes.
Ford is also ramping up excitement for the Mustang GTD with a new virtual storytelling series featuring photo-realistic renderings of the car’s capabilities. This digital experience aims to showcase the car’s performance even though it’s not yet on the roads.
With over 7,500 applications received, it’s clear that there’s a lot of interest in the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. Fans are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on this track-focused supercar.
