Shelby American has focused on the peak of its lineup for its tuning program of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang. In April, the company introduced a new generation of the Super Snake, presenting a track-tuned Mustang.
Debuted at the Barrett-Jackson event in Palm Beach, Florida, this 830+ horsepower sports car aims to be the most powerful Shelby Super Snake ever. The 2024 Shelby Super Snake features a 5.0L V8 engine, available in both 480 and 830+ horsepower versions, delivering supercar performance.
Enhancements include a tuned suspension for sharper turn-ins, improved exhaust for better airflow, and upgraded brakes and cooling systems to fully utilize the powertrain’s potential. “We designed the Shelby Super Snake to be the pinnacle of our performance cars based on Ford’s world-class Mustang sports car,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American.
“It follows Carroll Shelby’s vision that each generation of cars improves the breed. By collaborating with Ford Motor Company, Whipple, and other top companies, our Las Vegas team created our best Shelby Super Snake yet.” This model is Shelby American’s first car based on the new S650 Ford Mustang platform. The 2024 Shelby Super Snake blends form and function seamlessly.
“The roots of the Shelby Super Snake began with the race-bred Mark IV Ford GT, which won Le Mans in 1966,” said Gary Patterson, President of Shelby American. “That car’s engine inspired the first Shelby Super Snake, a one-off experimental built for high-speed testing on the track. Over the years, the Shelby Super Snake has evolved but maintained its ‘competition-edged’ personality.”
Shelby American has spent the past year perfecting this elite version of the car, applying decades of lessons from the track, dyno, and design studio. The 2024 model boasts over 830+ horsepower from its supercharged 5.0L V8. It is available with a manual or automatic transmission and can be purchased as either a fastback or convertible. Pricing will be announced soon. Only 250 units of this model will be available in the US.
Each vehicle from Shelby American is documented in the official Shelby Registry and comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. The powertrain warranty from Ford remains intact.
