Volkswagen Group of America has initiated a recall for specific vehicles produced from 2021 to 2023 due to an identified software issue. The recall encompasses models manufactured in Germany and the United States, with VINs starting from WVGDMPE25MP000464 to 1V2JNPE80PC049686.

This action follows an investigation of 354 warranty claims made between April 2023 and February 2024, all potentially related to this software malfunction. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result.  Updated software was introduced in production as of June 2023 to correct the issue.

However, the faulty software might still affect some vehicles assembled after this date. The vehicles in question were built from March 6, 2020, to November 2, 2023. Volkswagen has directed dealerships to implement the software update, and owners will receive notification letters around July 12.

The electric vehicle world has seen remarkable growth, with the Volkswagen ID.4 emerging as a prominent contender. Its strides in the market are evident, characterized by robust sales figures and a host of competitive features. In the United States, the ID.4 experienced a remarkable surge in sales last year, totaling 37,789 units a notable 84.2 percent increase compared to the previous year.

However, the onset of 2024 posed challenges, marked by a 37-percent decline in deliveries during the first quarter. Despite this, the ID.4 remains a compelling option, particularly when considering its competitive pricing, which stands strong against rivals like the Mustang Mach-E’s Select RWD trim, starting at $39,995. Moreover, the ID.4 boasts an impressive maximum EPA-estimated range of 291 miles, firmly establishing its position within the segment.

For owners, staying informed about potential recalls is essential. Checking for recalls, such as recall 919A/24V-344, can be easily accomplished by inputting the vehicle’s VIN into Volkswagen’s recall portal or reaching out to VW customer service, local retailers, or the NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline for further assistance.
