MotoGP was supposed to start racing in Kazakhstan in 2023 to grow its presence in Asia. But the track wasn’t ready, so the race was canceled and moved to 2024.

Dorna Sports planned the first Kazakhstan GP for June 14-16, 2024. But heavy flooding earlier in the year made them postpone it until they could find a new date later in the season.

Then, the Indian Grand Prix had problems and got canceled on May 29 because of money issues. The promoter broke its deal with Dorna for 2024. So, the Kazakhstan GP will now happen on September 20-22 instead of the Indian GP.

The Kazakhstan GP is now the first race of three in a row. After Kazakhstan, there’s the Indonesian GP the next week, followed by the Japanese GP.

After that, MotoGP will stay in the Pacific area for three more races in October and the start of November: Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

With India not on the 2024 schedule anymore, two of the 22 planned races got canceled. The other was the Argentina GP, set for early April. The new president of Argentina cut spending, so that race was canceled too. They haven’t said if it will come back in the future.

Hungary was a backup plan at a new place called Balaton Park. But the track isn’t ready for big races yet. They had to cancel a big World Superbike race there recently and find a new place for it.
