Debuting in 2000 at the Monterey Historic Races, the Saleen S7 marked a significant milestone for the American automaker.

Not only was it the first car designed and built entirely in-house by Saleen, but it was also America’s sixth mid-engine production sports car. To achieve this feat, Saleen collaborated with Hidden Creek Industries for funding and resources, and Ray Mallock Limited for their expertise in chassis, suspension, and aerodynamic components.

The design, entrusted to Phil Frank, resulted in a lightweight steel chassis clothed in aerodynamic carbon fiber bodywork, complete with functional scoops, vents, and a prominent rear wing. Under the hood, the S7 packed a punch with a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter Ford Windsor V8 engine generating 550 horsepower.

Packing a serious punch under the hood, the 2005 Saleen S7 was a force to be reckoned with. Boasting a twin-turbocharged engine that produced a staggering 750 horsepower and an even more impressive 1,000 horsepower in the competition package, this American muscle car could rocket from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 mph.

Mated to a smooth-shifting six-speed manual transmission, the S7 offered exhilarating performance while maintaining creature comforts like power-adjustable seats, climate control, and a premium leather interior.
