An icon of the Gulf War, the Hummer H1, found a champion in actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who even had one converted to electric. After the brand’s demise in 2010, GMC resurrected Hummer in the 2020s, this time as an electric SUV.

The GMC Hummer EV boasts a rugged design that defies the trend of sleek EVs, but its starting price of $96,000 (reaching $140,000 for the top model) and 300-mile range spark debate about its practicality.

Matching the Hummer in off-road spirit is the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen with EQ Technology. While the G580 Edition One boasts a luxurious interior, it sacrifices range and power compared to the Hummer.

Despite its smaller size and 116 kWh battery, the G-Wagen carries a heftier price tag of $168,000 and offers a 50-mile shorter range with less than 600 horsepower.

The Hummer EV surges ahead with its three electric motors packing 830 horsepower and a larger 170 kWh battery, translating to quicker acceleration.

Aimed squarely at the luxury electric off-road market, the Dongfeng MHERO 1 brings a unique blend of power, range, and off-road capability to the table.

Debuting in 2024, the MHERO 1 takes aim at established players like the Hummer EV and Mercedes G-Wagen, offering a feature-rich package at a competitive price.

With a starting price significantly lower in China than its Swiss counterpart, the MHERO 1 boasts over 1,000 horsepower and a 450 km range, all wrapped in a design that’s sure to turn heads.
