During a Stellantis investor presentation, executives like Jeep’s CEO Antonio Filosa gave a look into Jeep’s plans up to 2027. They revealed new models and updates, focusing heavily on making more electric vehicles, both expensive and affordable.

One major announcement was about the next version of the Jeep Renegade, a compact SUV. The new model will have an electric version that will start under $25,000. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares mentioned during a media discussion that this electric Renegade would use a type of battery called lithium-iron-phosphate.

This choice is due to its lower cost compared to other batteries like nickel-manganese-cobalt. Tavares also noted the need for battery production facilities in North America to qualify for tax credits. This suggests that while the starting price of the electric Renegade might be above $25,000, it could drop below that with tax credits.

But the Renegade isn’t the only new model coming. The Jeep Compass will get a new version by 2027. There will be a new midsize SUV introduced alongside the Wagoneer S. Although it doesn’t have a name yet, it’s likely to be either a new Cherokee or a successor with a different name.

Several other Jeep models will also get updates, including the Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer. By 2027, the Jeep lineup will feature five plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), a model with extended range, and six fully electric vehicles (EVs). Some of these will be different versions of the same model, such as the Wrangler 4xe PHEV, the Wagoneer 4xe with extended range, and the new Renegade EV.

Two of these fully electric models will be revealed in 2025. One will use the STLA Large platform, designed for larger vehicles like the Grand Cherokee, and the other will use the STLA Medium platform, which suits midsize and compact models like the Compass and its successor.

As for the Renegade EV, it’s expected to arrive after these larger models. Positioned as a small vehicle with a low price and multiple powertrain options, it will likely use the Stellantis Smart Car platform. This platform, also used by models like the Citroen e-C3, supports both hybrid engines and electric powertrains, offering a range of up to 249 miles. This range estimate is based on WLTP standards and might be lower under EPA testing.

In the coming years, Jeep’s shift towards electrification will ramp up. The Wagoneer S will go on sale by the end of this year, followed by the Recon next year, marking the beginning of their electrification journey.
