In a move that will excite performance car enthusiasts, Chevrolet has been teasing the upcoming C8 Corvette ZR1 since April 2024.

Scheduled for a July 25th debut, this new generation ZR1 will be the most powerful combustion-engine vehicle ever offered by General Motors.

Production is slated to begin in September at the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant, which has been home to Corvette production since 1981.

The latest teaser video, titled “The Reveal Is Coming,” features enticing sounds of a high-performance engine and gear changes.

While Chevrolet hasn’t confirmed specifics, speculation centers around a twin-turbocharged version of the 5.5-liter V8 found in the Z06, codenamed LT7.

This engine could potentially retain Active Fuel Management for improved efficiency, suggesting a possible switch from the Z06’s flat-plane crank to a traditional cross-plane crank for better suitability with the turbos.

Instead of relying solely on engine displacement, Chevrolet’s Corvette Stingray and E-Ray utilize Active Fuel Management (AFM) to enhance fuel efficiency.

This clever technology seamlessly transforms the powerful 6.2-liter V8 into a four-cylinder engine under specific driving conditions, reducing fuel consumption.

However, AFM is being phased out in favor of the more advanced Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM).

DFM boasts even finer control, with the ability to deactivate individual cylinders for optimal efficiency a feature currently seen in GM’s truck engines like the 5.3L and 6.2L small blocks found in the Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500.
