With an open seat at Alpine for the 2025 season, the team is holding driver evaluations. Esteban Ocon’s departure at year’s end is confirmed, and Pierre Gasly’s contract expires as well.

Rumors swirled around Alpine’s interest in Carlos Sainz, but he’s also attracting attention from Sauber/Audi and Williams.

Flavio Briatore, a new advisor for Alpine, hinted at keeping Gasly while remaining open to both young and experienced driver options.

This driver search has intensified as Mick Schumacher, a Mercedes reserve who lost his Haas seat in 2023, will take the wheel of a 2022-spec A522 at Paul Ricard on July 3rd.

This test day is a chance for Schumacher, He is racing with Alpine in the Global Endurance Championship to demonstrate his ability and maybe gain a position on the 2025 F1 squad.

The driver market for the 2025 Formula 1 season continues to heat up, with several teams vying for top talent.

While Pierre Gasly is expected to remain with Alpine, there’s a chance he could be lured away by the new Audi outfit being spearheaded by former McLaren boss Andreas Seidl.

This possibility strengthens with Carlos Sainz’s yet-to-be-confirmed plans after leaving Ferrari, making him a potential target for multiple teams.

Alpine itself is evaluating young drivers for a potential seat in 2025. Mick Schumacher, son of the legendary Michael Schumacher, will be given a chance to prove himself behind the wheel of the A522 at the upcoming Paul Ricard test.

He won’t be alone, as Alpine Academy member Jack Doohan will also participate in the evaluation. The outcome of this test isn’t the sole factor in Alpine’s decision, with Sainz remaining a possibility depending on his plans.
