Owners of over 11,000 Tesla Cybertrucks produced between late 2023 and early 2024 may need to visit a service center.
The concern centers on the decorative trim along the truck bed, which could detach while driving due to a problem with how it’s secured.
Tesla traced the issue back to a missing applique discovered in December and launched an investigation to improve the attachment process.
Despite efforts to fix the problem, a customer reported a detached piece in May, prompting further inspection.
This revealed potential causes as either faulty installation, weak adhesive, or a combination of both. Tesla has since collaborated with its suppliers to tighten quality control measures to prevent future incidents.
A minor hurdle has surfaced for some early Tesla Cybertruck owners. Tesla is recalling a batch of these vehicles due to a potential issue with cosmetic trim pieces.
The problem stems from an incomplete application of adhesive and misplaced tape, which could cause the trim to detach from the truck.
Fortunately, this won’t affect Cybertrucks waiting at delivery centers or currently in transport. Technicians at those locations will fix the issue before the trucks reach customers.
However, Tesla needs to contact the initial wave of Cybertruck recipients. The company will be mailing official recall notices in August to those who purchased a 2024 model and agreed to a temporary restriction on reselling within the first year.
