Despite a recent sighting of the Tesla Cybertruck cruising in Monte Carlo, Monaco, the futuristic electric vehicle remains illegal on European roads.

The sharp, unconventional design and substantial weight of the Cybertruck caused the European Commission to deem it unsafe for pedestrians and incompatible with European infrastructure.

This raises the question of how the spotted Cybertruck ended up in Monaco, with a Florida license plate no less. It’s possible the vehicle was shipped in for a private event, similar to a past Cybertruck exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Monaco’s glamorous streets, usually a parade of high-end automobiles, were surprised by the unexpected arrival of a Cybertruck sporting a sleek black satin wrap emblazoned with “Foundation Series” on its doors.

The futuristic truck pulled up to a luxurious restaurant near the famous Monte Carlo Casino. Two women emerged from the vehicle, leaving the valet to grapple with its steer-by-wire system, a novelty that caused a flicker of surprise before he regained his composure.

But the Cybertruck itself was guaranteed to turn heads. Its legality in Europe remains undecided by the European Commission, but this wasn’t the first sighting in Monaco.

Earlier this month, Prince Albert himself was spotted cruising in one, raising questions about the electric vehicle’s future on European roads.
