Volkswagen is recalling over 84,000 Golf and Atlas vehicles from model years 2022 to 2024 due to a software issue impacting the rearview camera.

These cars, manufactured between September 2021 and March 2024, may experience a delayed or disabled camera image when placed in reverse.

The problem is linked to specific infotainment system software versions running on MIB3 units.

While the cause of the bug isn’t confirmed, the automaker is aware of nearly 500 warranty claims potentially related to this issue.

To prioritize your safety, Volkswagen dealerships in North America are equipped to fix this issue free of charge.

Skip the phone call and lengthy VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) communication simply head over to the Volkswagen recall website and enter your VIN for a quick confirmation.

In other news, gearheads take note: 2024 marked the final year for the beloved manual transmission in the Golf GTI and Golf R.

If you crave the classic stick shift experience, these sporty hatchbacks will be switching to an automatic dual-clutch transmission from the 2025 model year onwards.

The Atlas, on the other hand, has always been a two-pedal affair, but it utilizes a traditional torque-converter automatic instead of the double-clutch option.
