The fearsome Mercedes-AMG ONE has returned to the Nurburgring Nordschleife for another round of testing, this time with two camouflaged prototypes spotted lapping the legendary track.

Joining the German automaker’s engineers were representatives from Multimatic, a curious detail considering the ONE’s assembly takes place in the UK.

Unlike Multimatic’s usual Canadian base, this assembly is handled by Mercedes AMG High-Performance Powertrains, a facility specifically established to build the ONE’s intricate Formula 1-inspired hybrid powertrain.

The purpose of this latest testing session remains a mystery, but with both cars seemingly sporting standard specifications, speculation suggests it could be anything from data gathering to potential minor tweaks for the already record-holding hypercar.

Packing a punch of upgrades, the 2020 model year brought more power and handling prowess to the already impressive machine.

To enhance performance, engineers implemented stronger ignition components, improved cooling systems, and recalibrated the engine computer for a wider torque range.

Stiffer suspension dampening in track mode further sharpened handling, while a titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic added a thrilling soundtrack.

These refinements suggest that an even more powerful version or a performance package might be in the works from AMG and Multimatic.
