Audi is consolidating its sedan offerings with the introduction of the A7, a successor to the A6 family. The A7 adopts a three-pronged approach to cater to diverse buyer preferences. The traditional Sedan offers a familiar body style, while the Avant wagon prioritizes practicality.

Adventure seekers will find the Allroad wagon, with its increased ground clearance, a compelling choice. Audi hasn’t forgotten about performance enthusiasts. The high-octane RS 7 Avant is poised to return, ready to battle it out with the upcoming BMW M5 Touring.

Recent photos depicting the RS 7 undergoing aggressive testing near the Nurburgring hint at its imminent arrival, stirring excitement among driving aficionados. Audi is giving fans a sneak peek at the upcoming RS 7 Avant, and it appears to be even more aggressive than its predecessor.

The widebody design keeps the sporty essence alive, with features like bulging fenders and a redesigned bumper that eliminates the central intake. Slimmer headlights and a pointier nose create a sharper look, while a thin light strip connects the taillights at the rear.

While the profile might seem similar to the current RS 6 Avant, the lack of a charging port and hybrid stickers on the prototypes suggests the RS 7 Avant could retain the powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine from its sibling.

This engine delivers an impressive 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling the 2024 RS 6 Avant to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. Audi is gearing up to shake up the high-performance wagon market with the introduction of the RS 7 Avant.

Scheduled for a 2026 release, the RS 7 Avant sheds the traditional gasoline engine in favor of a potent plug-in hybrid V8 rumored to deliver over 700 horsepower. This positions it as a direct competitor to the BMW M5 Touring, which boasts a comparable output from its electrified powertrain.

While Audi maintains secrecy on exact details, rumors point towards a debut sometime next year. This comes after a potential final celebration for the current RS 6 Avant, possibly taking the form of a special 2025 edition.
