Mooncool, a relatively new player in the e-bike market, emerged in 2021 amidst the recent electric bike boom. Based in LA, the company remains shrouded in mystery, with limited information available. Their TK1 model, a three-wheeled electric bike, features a unique blend of aluminum and steel for its frame.

The folding design, centered around the down tube with a folding steering column, aims to optimize storage. However, the practicality of this folding mechanism in real-world scenarios, especially compared to other folding fat tire bikes, remains questionable.

While it might offer benefits for long-term storage, its convenience for everyday use is yet to be fully established. Built for stability and hauling, the Mooncool TK1 electric trike boasts features that cater to comfort and practicality.

Its wide, 3-inch fat tires promise a smooth ride by soaking up bumps, further enhanced by a front suspension fork with an estimated 30mm travel. Unlike some competitors, the TK1 comes equipped with both front and rear racks, providing a total weight capacity of 350 lbs – perfect for grocery runs or errands.

To conquer inclines laden with cargo, Mooncool equips the TK1 with a 500W motor peaking at 750W, paired with a removable 14.5 Ah battery promising a maximum range of 60 miles (though real-world results may vary).

While the official speed limit is 16 mph, it might be possible to nudge it slightly higher depending on the controller and display. Tipping the scales at 115 lbs, the TK1 is a substantial machine, but the detachable battery eases handling. Consider taking a test ride if possible, as Mooncool’s website is currently sold out.

With its focus on stability, cargo capacity, and user-friendly features, the TK1 targets riders seeking a comfortable and practical electric trike experience, especially those who prioritize balance or need to haul significant cargo. The $1,600 price tag is a factor to consider as well.
