Vlado Dinga and Ales Tomis, the dynamic duo behind Earth Motorcycles, have established a name for themselves in the custom motorcycle industry. Their penchant for transforming ordinary motorcycles into extraordinary works of art is evident in their portfolio. With a particular affinity for classic BMWs, the pair have mastered reimagining these iconic machines.
Their latest creation, a 1989 BMW R 80 RT, is a testament to their skill and creativity. Stripped down to its bare essentials, the bike underwent a radical transformation. The original subframe was replaced with a custom-built, shorter version, and the stock bodywork was discarded in favor of a minimalist aesthetic.
The fuel tank was subtly raised to enhance the bike’s proportions, and a beautifully crafted, cross-stitched saddle from Militaseats completed the transformation. A premium YSS shock unites the subframe and swingarm, while the original forks remain upfront, though lowered by two inches and equipped with a mini fender.
A cafe-style fairing, featuring a yellowed windshield secured by subtle brackets, crowns the minimalist cockpit. Here, billet aluminum meets Motogadget instrumentation and clip-on handlebars adorned with matching grips, switches, and bar-end indicators, all complemented by high-end Brembo levers and stealthy CNC foot pegs.
Vintage-clad Shinko tires wrap the refurbished factory wheels, while the R80’s boxer engine, overhauled with new internals, breathes through K&N filters and exhales via a shortened exhaust. A Motogadget controller manages the bike’s electrical system, neatly concealed within a new wiring harness. The matte black finish, punctuated by white pinstripes on the tank, completes the custom look.
