While recent upgrades brought Red Bull some success, their fight isn’t over. After initial struggles against teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo has found his stride with three-point finishes in the last six races.
Despite these improvements, speculation swirled about his future with Liam Lawson waiting in the wings. However, Red Bull opted to retain Ricciardo, and his focus remains on development. His 11th-place finish at Spa (later promoted to points due to a disqualification) capped a strong pre-summer break run for the team, extending their points-scoring streak to four races.
However, Ricciardo suggests the car’s underlying issues haven’t been fully addressed, despite the upgrades. Daniel Ricciardo acknowledged his team’s strengths lay in slower, more technical sections of the track, while high-speed stretches remained an area for improvement.
Despite a promising race, he believed they could have secured points until a late overtake by Esteban Ocon. Ricciardo felt he had a strong race but ultimately fell short of his target due to other drivers’ impressive performances. Recognizing the potential benefits of increased weight, he jokingly suggested gaining weight during the break to improve car performance.
