Tesla’s Cybertruck Foundation Series, particularly the top-tier Cyberbeast, promised owners a light bar as a cornerstone feature. After months of anticipation, Tesla has initiated the installation of these highly sought-after light bars.

However, a significant roadblock has emerged: due to regulatory constraints, the light bars remain inoperable, disconnected from the Cybertruck’s electrical system. This issue further exacerbates the frustration of Cybertruck owners who have already endured delays in receiving promised features such as Full Self-Driving and Autopilot.

Despite assurances from Tesla’s vehicle program manager, Siddhant Awasthi, that light bar installations were imminent, many owners are still awaiting this promised accessory. While recent reports indicate that Tesla has begun fulfilling this pledge, the inability to harness the light bar’s full potential has dampened the enthusiasm of Cybertruck owners eager to fully experience their vehicle’s advertised capabilities.

This ongoing saga underscores the challenges Tesla has faced in delivering on the ambitious promises made for the Cybertruck.  Tesla has taken a unique approach to the Cybertruck’s light bar.

Rather than offering a complete solution, the company confines its involvement to the physical installation of the light bar itself. The service manual explicitly states that Tesla is legally prohibited from handling the light bar’s electrical integration into the Cybertruck’s system.

This hands-off approach is further emphasized by strict instructions forbidding Tesla employees from assisting with the connection process. To accommodate owners, Tesla has recently added detailed wiring instructions to the service manual, likely in anticipation of the light bar’s rollout.

Recognizing the potential for misuse, Tesla has implemented a temporary measure by covering the light bars with blackout tape before delivery. This step is intended to ensure compliance with road regulations, as the light bar is explicitly designed for off-road use only. By removing this tape, owners assume full responsibility for the light bar’s operation, underscoring the importance of safe and legal usage.
