Kia is not resting on its laurels when it comes to the Sportage, despite the compact crossover segment not being a typical focus for many. The Korean automaker is gearing up to introduce a refreshed version of the fifth-generation Sportage for the 2026 model year.

While this may sound like a substantial overhaul, it’s essentially a mid-cycle facelift. Shots reveal a redesigned front end featuring a new grille, vertically oriented headlights with prominent daytime running lights, and an updated bumper.

The rear also receives attention with revised taillights and a tweaked bumper. Although these images captured the standard wheelbase model, it’s reasonable to expect similar changes for the longer wheelbase variant available in certain markets.

While the current interior doesn’t appear outdated, Kia is likely to introduce subtle refinements such as updated software for the infotainment system, a new steering wheel design, and possibly enhanced technology and safety features.

While the Kia Sportage recently underwent a full model year refresh, it’s still too early to definitively outline changes for a potential mid-cycle update. Given the typical scope of such updates, it’s reasonable to anticipate the current powertrain options carrying over.

This includes the efficient turbocharged 1.6-liter engine paired with 48-volt technology, the hybrid variant combining the 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor for a total of 226 horsepower, and the plug-in hybrid offering 261 combined horsepower and an electric-only range of 43 miles.

With the 2025 Sportage already in showrooms, starting at $27,190, a refreshed model is likely to arrive for the 2026 model year. Expect a slight price increase and subtle design refinements rather than a radical departure from the current, well-received model. It’s important to note that speculative designs circulating online are unlikely to accurately depict the final product.
