Ford Motor Company has initiated a recall affecting 70,483 pickup trucks and crossovers due to a malfunction in their power windows. The issue stems from a software glitch that prevents the windows from automatically reversing when they encounter an object, potentially leading to injuries.
The affected vehicles include the 2024 Ford Ranger and the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, manufactured between specific dates in 2022 and 2024. Ford has confirmed that no injuries have been reported due to this defect.
To address the problem, Ford will update the door module software in affected vehicles. Owners will be notified by mail in September, and the recall is expected to begin on September 9. The Lincoln Nautilus, a midsize luxury SUV, has undergone a significant transformation.
Originally built on the Ford Edge’s platform, it now shares the C2 architecture with the Lincoln Corsair, Ford Escape, Bronco Sport, and Maverick. Starting at $50,415, the Premiere trim is followed by the Reserve at $54,850 and the top-tier Lincoln Black Label at $74,350. Under the hood, customers can choose between a traditional 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine or a more eco-friendly hybrid version.
Unlike a plug-in hybrid, this self-charging hybrid system pairs the 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor, resulting in a continuously variable transmission instead of a traditional automatic. Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger midsize truck offers only automatic transmissions.
The 10R60 torque-converter automatic is standard in both the regular Ranger and the upcoming Ranger Plug-In Hybrid. While the hybrid version won’t be available in the United States, it will be offered in other markets with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and an electric driving range of at least 45 kilometers (28 miles) under the WLTP standard.
In the United States, the Ranger lineup features three engine options: the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost, and the 3.0-liter EcoBoost. The most powerful of these, the 3.0-liter EcoBoost, is exclusively available in the high-performance Ranger Raptor off-road model.
