The 1962 Chevrolet Impala, already a sales sensation, solidified its position as the full-size car of choice with the introduction of a new generation. Chevrolet’s commitment to continuous improvement led to significant changes in the 1962 model year, particularly in the engine department.

The all-new 327 small block, offered in various power outputs, replaced the more powerful version of the 283 V8 and quickly became a customer favorite. While the 327 gained popularity, the 348, which had debuted alongside the Impala in 1958, was phased out. Chevrolet focused on the 409 to fill the void, offering it in 380 and 409 horsepower variants.

A recent eBay listing showcased a 1962 Impala convertible equipped with the base 283 V8 engine. The car’s long-term storage in a garage had left it in need of a complete overhaul, but the original drivetrain presented an opportunity for a faithful restoration.

While the exterior remained largely original, the interior required attention. The seller, flowerg_21, noted that the interior was complete but needed refreshing and that the metal was in good condition without any dents. Additionally, the 1962 Impala featured several other improvements, such as a new grille, taillights, and interior trim. The car’s styling was both sleek and muscular, and it was a popular choice among families and performance enthusiasts alike.

Given the Impala’s popularity and iconic status, it is no surprise that this particular example has attracted the attention of collectors and enthusiasts. With a complete overhaul, this 1962 Impala could be restored to its original glory and enjoyed for many years to come. The eBay listing for this Impala is a bit of a disappointment. Despite the seller’s enthusiasm, the photos are so blurry and poorly lit that it’s difficult to get a good look at the car.

The owner took pictures of photos, resulting in a low-quality image that doesn’t do the Impala justice. The body needs some work, including a new paint job, and the wheels are missing.

However, the seller has already removed many parts, which means you can purchase them separately if needed. Before making an offer, it’s best to contact the seller directly and ask as many questions as possible.

The asking price of $10K is a bit high considering the condition of the car. There’s no reserve price, so the highest bid will win the Impala. However, given the poor quality of the photos, it’s unlikely to receive many bids.

If you’re interested in this Impala, you’ll need to be prepared to pick it up in Elloree, South Carolina. The auction ends in about five days, so you have time to gather more information and decide if it’s the right car for you.
