Nissan’s daring stunt has pushed the boundaries of automotive bungee jumping. The Japanese automaker recently set a new world record by plummeting a Nissan Qashqai from a towering platform.
While many of us may have dreamed of experiencing the thrill of bungee jumping, few would have dared to take it to such extreme heights, especially with a car. The stunt, which took place in Puteaux, France, involved a Nissan Qashqai e-Power being suspended from a crane at a height of 65 meters.
The car, stripped of its interior except for the driver’s seat and dashboard, was then released, plunging towards the ground. To ensure the safety of the driver and the car, a specially designed platform was constructed to withstand the impact.
Nissan’s decision to undertake such a daring feat is a testament to the brand’s adventurous spirit and commitment to pushing the limits of what is possible. The stunt has not only captured the attention of the automotive world but has also inspired others to dream big and take on challenges that may seem impossible.
The adrenaline-pumping stunt began at dawn as a team of experts descended on the Parisian business district to assemble the towering crane. Prav Patel, the official adjudicator, meticulously measured the crane’s height using a laser measuring tape. Race driver and stuntman Laurent Lasko, braving the perilous height, would perform the daring bungee jump crossover.
The crane operator hoisted the Nissan into the air, then slid open the cage door, allowing the car to plummet headfirst, tethered only by a strap. The Nissan Qashqai plummeted towards the ground, bouncing up and down as the strap reached its full length. The crane then carefully lowered the car back onto the ground. After a thorough inspection of the car and strap, Prav Patel confirmed the record-breaking feat.
In reality, the car was secured by eight straps for greater control over its descent. Jerome Biguet, Nissan’s Marketing Director, announced that the next advertising campaign would feature the Qashqai leaping from building to building.
As automakers fiercely compete for sales, others will inevitably attempt to surpass this bungee jumping record. However, the stunt’s audacity and the technical expertise involved in its execution are likely to remain a benchmark for years to come.
The stunt not only showcased the capabilities of the Nissan Qashqai but also highlighted the daring spirit of automotive marketing. It was a spectacle that fascinated audiences worldwide and solidified the car’s position in the market. The record breaking jump was a testament to the ingenuity and courage of the team involved, and it will undoubtedly inspire future automotive stunts.
