Recent shots from the Nurburgring reveal that General Motors is hard at work developing its highly anticipated Zora supercar. Spotted testing alongside several prototypes, the Zora showcases a familiar design language reminiscent of the mighty ZR1. However, beneath its camouflaged exterior lies a hybrid powertrain that promises to deliver exceptional performance.
Equipped with a front-mounted electric motor in addition to the powerful LT7 twin-turbo V8, the Zora is expected to boast a combined output of over 1,200 horsepower. This potent combination is anticipated to propel the Zora to 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars on the market.
The forthcoming Chevrolet Corvette Zora, scheduled to make its debut in late 2025, is anticipated to weigh marginally more than its predecessor, the ZR1, due to the integration of electric components. Despite the added weight, the Zora is expected to retain the ZR1’s impressive performance capabilities.
Adorned with forged aluminum wheels and flow through hoods, the Zora prototypes have been sighted on test tracks equipped with test pipes that strategically direct the sound of the flat plane V8 downward, thereby ensuring compliance with stringent track noise regulations.
As development continues, GM will progressively incorporate more production ready parts into the Zora prototypes, although the design is expected to closely mirror that of the current Corvette ZR1.
