The digital world has been lacking in visual depictions of the upcoming Mercedes GLS family. While we’ve seen the look of the standard Benz and the sporty AMG GLS 63, this story focuses on a new set of CGIs showcasing a potential design for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Kelsonik recently revealed these illustrations on social media, which, despite their accuracy, miss a key design element. The star motif headlights, a hallmark of the Mercedes-Benz brand, are conspicuously absent from these CGIs.
However, aside from this omission, the design aligns closely with the expected appearance of the real vehicle. Comparing these illustrations to its predecessor, the outgoing Mercedes-Benz GLS, reveals subtle yet significant changes, particularly at the front and rear.
The three-pointed star brand has opted for a new headlight design with a distinctive daytime running light signature. The grille has been enlarged and shortened, while the central intake below it and the side vents have been given more prominence.
The hood and front fenders have also undergone minor adjustments to complement the styling. The upcoming Mercedes GLS, while not a completely new model, boasts a refreshed design that sets it apart from its predecessor.
The rear end, in particular, showcases a more modern aesthetic with star-inspired taillights that protrude slightly into the tailgate. Although the proportions remain similar, the absence of a connecting light strip and the addition of a new diffuser and tailpipe trim elements contribute to a distinct appearance.
While the quoted pixel manipulator’s white paint and standard wheels may not be to everyone’s taste, the potential for customization with a chrome delete wrap or aftermarket accessories adds a personal touch. As for the release date, details remain scarce, but the new GLS will likely make its debut at an internal event soon.
European markets can expect to see the first models arrive at dealerships next year, and the Indian launch is anticipated for 2026, with the AMG GLS 63 following shortly after. Despite being a mid cycle refresh, the 2026 GLS aims to maintain its competitive edge against rivals like the BMW X7 by offering a fresh and updated design.
