The 2025 Jeep Gladiator, while retaining its manual transmission option for the Wrangler counterpart, has transitioned exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission across all trims. This shift has resulted in a slight increase in the starting price to $38,100, plus $1,895 for the destination, compared to its predecessor’s $37,895. However, the added cost is justified by several enhancements.

The automatic transmission, previously a $2,500 option, now comes standard, and the 2025 model also features power locks and windows as standard equipment. Jeep’s efforts to regain market share from the Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma are evident in the 2025 Gladiator’s comprehensive package. As the only open air mid-size truck, it offers safety features such as side-curtain airbags for both the first and second rows.

The standard Uconnect 5 infotainment system, with its 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, provides a modern and convenient user experience. Adaptive cruise control with stop is also standard from the Sport S trim onwards.

The 2025 model year also introduces new paint colors, including Fathom Blue and a military-inspired shade called ’41. This olive drab green hue pays homage to the iconic Willys MB. For added comfort, the Gladiator offers an optional Active Cabin Ventilation feature, allowing users to pre-condition the cabin using the Jeep Connect mobile app before entering the vehicle. This is particularly beneficial during hot summer months.

The Jeep Gladiator is set to receive a significant electric upgrade in the coming years. While the traditional 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine will remain available for the 2025 model year, the pièce de résistance will be the introduction of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option in 2026. This new Gladiator 4xe will share a similar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and electric motor setup as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe.

The Wrangler 4xe itself is slated for an update in 2026, with details still under wraps. However, it’s expected that the electric motor and battery technology will carry over to the Gladiator 4xe. The current Wrangler 4xe boasts impressive performance figures, including 375 horsepower, 470 pound-feet of torque, and a 21-mile electric range. Its electric motor contributes 134 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while the gasoline engine delivers 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Despite the upcoming electric options, the Gladiator will continue to offer its proven towing and payload capabilities, rated at 7,700 pounds and 1,725 pounds, respectively. Until the Gladiator 4xe arrives, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 will remain the sole powertrain option, producing 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
