Gas & Retro, a Slovenian custom bike workshop renowned for its exceptional builds, has once again fascinated the motorcycle community with its latest creation. Founded by Ziga Petek, the workshop’s reputation for transforming motorcycles into stunning works of art is well deserved. This Yamaha XJR1300, built in 2021, is a prime example of their expertise.

To enhance the XJR’s performance and aesthetics, Gas & Retro made significant upgrades. The stock suspension was replaced with a premium setup featuring Showa upside down forks and Ohlins shock absorbers.

The wheels were swapped for Kawasaki ZZR1400 units, wrapped in Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tires, and the braking system was upgraded with floating brake discs and larger calipers.

The workshop also focused on the bike’s aesthetics. A custom made loop style subframe was fabricated to improve the rear end’s proportions, and side panels were added to complement the new design. A comfortable two up seat, upholstered in a combination of black leather and perforated leather by Mitja Bizjak, completes the bike’s stylish appearance.

The Yamaha XJR1300, once a familiar sight on the roads, has been transformed into a sleek cafe racer. The bike’s iconic gas tank remains, but the front end has been completely redesigned with a custom fender and a striking cafe-style fairing. A Koso LED headlight, flanked by Kellermann Atto turn signals, takes center stage. A yellow-tinted windshield adds a touch of flair without compromising style.

The cockpit features TRW clip-ons wrapped in black Biltwell grips, paired with Nissin master cylinders and premium control levers. A multi function aftermarket dial sits neatly between the top clamp and windshield. The inline four engines have been given a thorough inspection and fitted with a custom exhaust system terminating in dual Spark mufflers.

The engine’s exterior is immaculate after a deep clean, and the aesthetic is completed with a simple yet elegant color scheme. Designed in collaboration with Matej Mrzlikar, the livery features a matte silver base on the fuel tank, fairing, and front fender, accented with black and gold detailing and Yamaha logos. This stunning creation, aptly named “Bison,” is a testament to the art of cafe racer customization.
