Tesla’s Cybertruck Foundation Series package originally included an off-road light bar, as depicted in promotional images. However, recent revelations about the installation process have caused significant controversy among owners. The light bar is permanently attached to the windshield, making removal difficult or impossible.

This unexpected decision has led to widespread criticism and frustration within the Cybertruck community. Many owners were initially excited about the inclusion of the light bar, as it was seen as a valuable addition to the vehicle’s off road capabilities. However, the permanent nature of the installation has raised concerns about its practicality and flexibility.

Some owners have expressed concerns about the potential impact on resale value, as the light bar may not be desirable for all buyers. Additionally, there are concerns about the potential for damage to the light bar during windshield replacements or other maintenance procedures.

The revelation of the permanent installation has also highlighted a disconnect between Tesla’s promotional materials and the actual product. While the images initially suggested a more flexible and removable light bar, the reality is quite different. This has led to questions about Tesla’s transparency and communication with its customers.

The controversy surrounding the Cybertruck’s light bar has created a negative perception among some owners and has raised questions about Tesla’s approach to product design and customer satisfaction. As Tesla continues to develop and refine its electric vehicle offerings, it is essential to prioritize customer feedback and ensure that products meet the expectations of consumers.

The Cybertruck’s light bar installation necessitates an overnight stay at the service center to allow the urethane glue to fully cure. Despite Tesla’s strict policy against employees connecting the light bar to the vehicle’s electrical system, the process remains relatively straightforward and can be completed by individuals with basic mechanical skills.

A detailed guide available on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum outlines the steps involved in installing the light bar. The process is estimated to take approximately an hour. The roof connector, which is essentially a bundle of wires, has remained unchanged since its initial appearance, even after nearly a year has passed.

Two of the three wires within the connector carry 48-volt power, while the third wire transmits the Interconnect signal. This signal enables advanced light bar functions, such as selecting different light types (ditch lights, flood lights, or both) and adjusting the brightness level, through the Outlets & Mods menu in the Cybertruck’s interface.
