Hyundai has given its Ioniq 5 N a facelift for the South Korean market. The 2025 model gets an enhanced N Drift Optimizer and N e-Shift function. It also comes with more standard features. Hopefully, these changes will also make their way to the US version.
The N Drift Optimizer now has 10 selectable levels of assistance. Level 10 minimizes the intervention of the Vehicle Dynamic Control system, making the car easier to drift. The N Drift Optimizer also has improved monitoring logic for drifting conditions, considering road conditions and vehicle behavior.
N e-Shift is a system that simulates gear shifts. It is a bit of a gimmick, but Hyundai developed the Ioniq 5 N to be fun rather than rational. The zero-emission crossover has received two additional N e-Shift functions.
Downshift memory stores downshift commands without shifting, allowing the driver to downshift at a reasonable engine speed. Downhill assist works like engine braking. N e-Shift has also been added to Eco mode in addition to Normal, Sport, and N mode. N Active Sound+ simulates the sound of Hyundai’s high-performance 2.0L turbo I4 engine. It turns on automatically when the launch control is engaged.
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, while visually identical to its predecessor, boasts several new features and enhancements. Safety is prioritized with standard automatic high beams, anti-dazzle technology, and second-row safety windows. Convenience is also improved with interior V2L functionality, allowing the car to power external devices, and Walk-Away Lock, which automatically locks the doors when the driver moves away.
Priced at 77,000,000 won in South Korea, or approximately 58,080 dollars, the Ioniq 5 N is positioned at the premium end of the lineup. While the price tag may seem steep for a compact Hyundai, its performance justifies the cost.
The dual motor setup delivers exhilarating power, with N Grin Boost activated, providing 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. Despite the boost, it still offers an impressive 601 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque.
