Unique Custom Cycles, a Scandinavian workshop renowned for its expertise in Harleys and BMWs, has garnered international acclaim for its exceptional custom builds. Based just outside Stockholm, Sweden, the workshop is led by brothers Ronna and Benna Noren, whose innovative designs have even influenced BMW’s R18 model.
One of their most notable creations, the R 5 Hommage, presented at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2016, shares striking similarities with the R 18. The R 5 Hommage, a masterpiece of engineering and design, showcases UCC’s ability to transform a classic motorcycle into a truly unique and breathtaking machine.
Its intricate details, meticulous craftsmanship, and timeless elegance have fascinated enthusiasts around the world. It’s no wonder that UCC quickly embraced BMW’s new cruiser, the R 18, and created a stunning custom version. The R 18, with its classic bobber styling and powerful engine, offered a blank canvas for UCC’s creative vision.
The workshop’s skilled artisans meticulously modified every aspect of the bike, from the wheels and brakes to the suspension and bodywork, resulting in a truly extraordinary custom creation. While the cosmetics received a subtle update, the mechanical upgrades were substantial. The high-end suspension at the rear, combined with other enhancements, promised a significant improvement in handling.
The OEM fuel tank, slightly repositioned, and a trimmed rear fender reduced visual bulk. A stylish leather seat with honeycomb stitching, crafted by Silver Machine in the Netherlands, replaced the original. A custom mudguard, a smaller LED headlight, and a tailor made handlebar with aftermarket grips completed the front end. A new exhaust system and a swingarm mounted license plate bracket further refined the bike’s appearance.
The stunning paintwork, executed by Hakan Lindberg, was a masterpiece in its own right. A glossy copper base, accented with warm orange highlights, created a visually fascinating and enduring effect. The color combination not only enhanced the motorcycle’s aesthetic but also complemented the other modifications.
