BMW has issued a recall for certain 2023-2025 model year vehicles due to a potential safety hazard. The issue lies in the integrated brake control module’s servomotor, which may have been improperly welded. This can lead to a loss of power brake assist, rear brake function, dynamic stability control, and antilock brake system.

To address this problem, BMW will be replacing affected modules with new, properly manufactured units. Dealers have already been instructed on how to perform this replacement. However, owner notifications will not begin until November.

While mechanical braking remains functional, it requires increased pedal effort. In the event of a complete failure, the rear axle’s emergency brake would be the only option.

The recall affects a wide range of BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce models, including the 2025 MINI Cooper, 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre, Countryman, X1 through XM, i7, and 750e.

BMW urges owners of affected vehicles to be aware of this recall and to schedule a service appointment with their dealer as soon as possible. The automaker is committed to ensuring the safety of its customers and will continue to take necessary steps to address any issues that may arise.

The BMW Group recently announced a recall for certain 2023-2025 model year vehicles due to a potential issue with the software controlling the anti lock braking system (ABS). The affected models include the X1, X7, 740i, and MINI Cooper 2 Door. While there have been no reported complaints or incidents related to this issue in the United States, BMW is taking proactive steps to address the problem.

The MINI Cooper 2 Door is the most affordable of the affected models, starting at $28,950. This three door hatchback features a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine and a seven speed dual clutch transmission.

The X1, which is based on the same platform as the MINI Cooper, is also affected by the recall. The electric version of the X1 uses a different platform developed by a joint venture between BMW and Great Wall Motor.

Finally, the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre, the brand’s first electric vehicle, is also included in the recall. This luxury sedan features a dual motor powertrain that produces 577 horsepower and 664 pound feet of torque. It has an estimated range of 264-291 miles on the EPA’s combined test cycle.
