A safety recall has been issued for a small number of 2023-2024 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks due to a faulty front seatbelt buckle assembly. The supplier, Lear Corporation, is responsible for the issue, as the seatbelt attachment bolt may not have been tightened to the correct specifications. This could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Owners may notice a rattling sound when buckling up.

While there have been five complaints, no injuries have been reported. The recall was initiated after a customer reported a loose buckle in a 2023 Colorado. General Motors is urging owners of affected vehicles to contact their dealership to schedule a free repair. The recall is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

This recall comes as a reminder of the importance of safety in vehicles. Seatbelts are a crucial safety feature, and they must be properly installed and functioning correctly. Consumers should always be vigilant about safety recalls and take prompt action to address any issues.

Lear has initiated a recall for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon due to a potential issue with the seatbelt buckle attachment bolts. This safety recall affects vehicles produced between September 27, 2022, and April 27, 2024. To address the issue, dealers will inspect and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

Owners can determine if their vehicle is affected by entering their 17-character VIN on the respective brand’s website. Notifications will be sent to affected owners starting November 4. The recall was prompted by Lear’s discovery of a potential issue with the seatbelt buckle attachment bolts during a routine inspection.

While no accidents or injuries have been reported due to this issue, Lear and General Motors are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of all Colorado and Canyon drivers.
