For many, life’s milestones align with certain age old expectations. A car in the twenties, a family in the thirties, a home in the forties. But it’s often in the fifties or later that we indulge in the truly extravagant. Take Thunderbike’s custom Fat Boy, for instance.
Dubbed “The Finish Line,” this motorcycle is more than just a machine; it’s a metaphor for a life well lived. Built for an anonymous client, it represents the pinnacle of the German shop’s custom offerings. While the stock Fat Boy is a solid choice for many riders, some desire a more aggressive, stylish, and impactful machine.
With a few strategic modifications, Thunderbike has achieved just that. The most striking changes are the wheels. The original 18-inch wheels have been replaced with much larger ones from Thunderbike’s Big Speed line. The front wheel now measures 23 inches, while the rear is 21 inches. Both wheels feature a technoid design and are finished in a two-tone black and metallic shine.
At the rear, an air ride system and a larger disc brake have been added, and the fender houses the bike’s rear lights. Thunderbike has also replaced the handlebars with a custom set, added LED turn signals and glassless mirrors, and relocated the license plate holder. Custom covers adorn the bike, and a quilted saddle with gold stitching completes the look.
While the engine remains stock, Thunderbike has added a Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde exhaust system. The bike is finished in black with a checkered flag motif, reflecting its name, “Finish Line.” The base Fat Boy costs $21,999, and the custom modifications add around $12,000. With labor, paint, and other costs, this bike is a luxury item for those who can afford it.
