The Honda CB550F, a classic motorcycle from 1976, has been transformed into a stunning cafe racer by Basti Happ of 089moto.
Despite its low mileage, the bike was in a neglected state when Basti acquired it.
However, he saw its potential and started on a meticulous customization project. The result is a breathtaking cafe racer that blends modern aesthetics with classic charm.
Basti’s transformation of the CB550F involved a complete overhaul of the bike’s appearance and performance.
He fabricated a new loop style subframe, replaced the stock seat with a bespoke leather saddle, and added a sleek cafe racer tail unit.
The wiring was rerouted through the frame tubing, and the rearmost portion of the subframe gained an LED lighting strip.
Modern adjustable rear suspension units were also installed to improve the bike’s handling.
The finished product is a testament to Basti’s skill and passion for motorcycles. The cafe racer’s clean lines, minimalist design, and powerful engine make it a truly exceptional machine.
It is a perfect example of how a classic motorcycle can be brought into the 21st century without losing its timeless appeal.

The bike’s centerpiece is the factory fuel tank, the only remaining original bodywork aside from the cafe racer tail.
A modern cockpit, featuring a Motogadget ChronoClassic speedometer and clip on handlebars with bar end turn signals, plain switches, and color-matched grips, replaces the original setup.
The ergonomics are further enhanced by custom billet aluminum rearsets.
The original headlight remains, while the stock wheels have been refurbished and fitted with retro looking Shinko tires. The bike’s performance has also been significantly upgraded.
The engine has been rebuilt and now features aftermarket pod filters and a handmade four into one exhaust system.
The exhaust was painstakingly crafted in house using stainless steel and features a monochrome paint job that complements the bike’s aesthetic.
