Despite a strong sales performance in the US, Toyota’s sports car division, the GR Supra, has struggled to compete with rivals like the Ford Mustang. While the RAV4 and Camry continue to dominate their respective segments, the Supra’s sales have been underwhelming.
In the first nine months of the year, the Supra only managed to sell 2,329 units, a far cry from the Mustang’s 36,000+ deliveries.
To address this, digital car content creators have proposed various solutions, including transforming the Supra into a Lexus LC sibling. This virtual modification aims to give the Supra a more luxurious and premium appeal, potentially attracting a wider range of buyers.
The pixel maestro recalled how the fifth generation Toyota GR Supra was initially showcased as grand touring concepts before its 2019 debut.
These prototypes were longer than the final production model due to its shared platform with BMW’s Z4.
The artist dislikes the resulting proportions and believes that Toyota should have used the Lexus LC’s platform for a more faithful representation of the original concepts. In his latest video, he digitally stretches the GR Supra’s body over the Lexus LC’s frame.
Furthermore, anticipating the upcoming mid cycle refresh and potential sixth generation model, the artist reimagines the GR Supra with a more Toyota centric design.
He modifies the headlights and taillights to resemble the iconic fourth-generation Supra of the 1990s, distancing the car from its BMW roots.
