Ford Motor Company has demonstrated remarkable sales performance during the first three quarters of 2023, even amidst a slight decline in F-Series deliveries compared to the previous year.

The company’s sales have reached an impressive 1.548 million units, marking a 2.7% increase from the same period in 2022. This growth is attributed to strong performances across all vehicle segments.

SUVs have been a significant contributor to Ford’s success, with sales increasing by 1.7% to over 658,000 units. Trucks have also shown robust growth, reaching 853,000 units, a 3.4% increase from the previous year. However, passenger cars have seen more modest growth, rising by 3.2% to 36,485 units.

The lone passenger car in Ford’s lineup, the iconic Mustang, is available in both fastback coupe and convertible body styles, as well as with a range of powertrains. The EcoBoost and V8 options offer varying levels of performance, including the high-performance Mustang GTD with its supercharged 5.2-liter engine, capable of producing 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.

The Mustang GTD stands out as a particularly exceptional model, setting records for both speed and price. With a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph), it is the fastest roadgoing Mustang ever produced. Additionally, its price tag of $325,000 before options makes it the most expensive Mustang in the company’s history.

Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, has expressed a desire to move away from producing “boring” cars and focus on legendary nameplates like Mustang, Bronco, and Raptor. This strategic shift aligns with the company’s commitment to delivering exciting and iconic vehicles that resonate with consumers.

Instead of passively waiting for official announcements about a rumored four door Mustang, digital car designer Vince Burlapp (vburlapp) has taken matters into his own hands. Burlapp, well-known for his imaginative renderings of future vehicles, has set his sights on the legendary Mustang.

His vision extends beyond the traditional coupe and convertible body styles, envisioning a future where the Mustang’s legacy expands to encompass a wider range of exciting forms, breathing new life into the iconic pony car.
