The specific car we are talking about was created for the 1993 model year and is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in London on November 2, 2024. It’s expected to fetch between $900,000 and $1,200,000.

A Masterpiece of Porsche Engineering

The Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight was born from the vision of Rolf Sprenger, the manager of Porsche’s Exclusive department. This model marked the first car developed within Porsche’s Exclusive program.

Built between July and November 1992, it was designed to be lighter and more powerful than the standard 911 Turbo of the time.

This lightweight version came with a unique engine, the M30/59 SL, which delivered 381 horsepower—61 horsepower more than the standard 3.3L Turbo engine.

Porsche achieved this power boost with larger fuel injectors, more aggressive camshafts, and a KKK turbocharger, offering enhanced performance at high speeds.

Stripped Down for Performance

What truly sets the 911 Turbo S Lightweight apart is its weight-saving design. Porsche engineers replaced the regular doors with lighter ones borrowed from the Carrera RS model.

They also used glass fiber-reinforced carbon composite material for the trunk lid, rear spoiler, and doors. The windows were made thinner, and even the glass used for the side and rear windows was lighter.

In addition, Porsche removed many of the usual creature comforts to keep the car as light as possible.

Air conditioning, power steering, and rear seats were all stripped out, although buyers had the option to include them if they wished.

This specific model, weighing just over 2,866 pounds, is 390 pounds lighter than the standard 911 Turbo.

A Unique Porsche with a Rare History

This particular 911 Turbo S Lightweight was finished in Grand Prix White and was destined for South America.

Interestingly, it has only 81 miles on the odometer, indicating it was barely driven. Although it originally came without air conditioning, this feature was later added back in.

Due to the humid climate where it resided, the car needed a respray, and it was shipped to Southern California for this work.

The exterior has been refreshed, and the car is now fully serviced and ready for its next owner. With its rarity, incredible engineering, and pristine condition, this 911 Turbo S Lightweight is expected to draw significant attention at the upcoming auction.

This one-of-a-kind Porsche, part of lot 336, is more than just a collector’s car—it’s a piece of Porsche history.
