Nissan’s American lineup is finally getting a much-needed refresh. The automaker has introduced three new crossover and SUV models: the 2025 Kicks, Murano, and Armada. The Kicks, now in its second generation, boasts a more mature appearance and advanced technology while maintaining its playful character.

The Armada, on the other hand, is a complete overhaul with a fresh design, a high-tech interior, and a powerful twin-turbo V6 engine. Sitting between these two is the fourth-generation Murano. Despite sharing design cues with other Nissan models like the Kicks and Ariya, the Murano has a distinct and elegant look.

While the previous generation has been on the market for nearly a decade, the new Murano feels like a significant upgrade in almost every way. The Nissan Murano, a mid-size crossover SUV, has undergone a significant redesign for 2025.

The new model boasts a wider and taller stance, a luxurious interior featuring dual 12.3-inch displays, and a modern powertrain consisting of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While the Murano offers several notable improvements, including a more stylish design, advanced technology, and enhanced off-road capabilities, it faces intense competition from other mid-size SUVs such as the Ford Explorer, Kia Sorento, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Murano’s redesigned exterior is characterized by its sleek lines, bold curves, and striking headlights. The interior is equally impressive, with high-quality materials, comfortable seating, and an abundance of technology features. The new powertrain provides a balance of performance and fuel efficiency, delivering ample power for everyday driving while maintaining reasonable fuel economy.

Additionally, the Murano’s increased ground clearance and advanced all-wheel-drive system enhance its off-road capabilities, making it a versatile choice for various driving conditions. However, despite its improvements, the Murano faces stiff competition from other mid-size SUVs that offer similar features and benefits. The Ford Explorer, for example, is known for its spacious interior, powerful engine options, and advanced driver-assistance technologies.

The Kia Sorento provides a combination of value, versatility, and hybrid options, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee offers legendary off-road capabilities and a premium interior. Ultimately, the success of the 2025 Nissan Murano will depend on its pricing and whether it can effectively differentiate itself from its competitors.

If Nissan can offer a compelling value proposition and position the Murano as a unique and desirable option within the mid-size SUV segment, it has a good chance of attracting buyers. However, if the pricing is too high or the Murano fails to stand out from the crowd, it may struggle to gain significant market share.
