General Motors is issuing a recall for 1,962 2024 GMC Sierra EV electric trucks due to a defect in the headlamp component. A Marelli-produced LED driver module, part number 13559401, fails to provide the necessary brightness distinction between the turn signal and parking lamps, which could potentially lead to confusion among drivers.
This issue was identified on August 21, 2024, and GM is now rectifying the problem by replacing the faulty modules at no expense to affected owners. The recall impacts vehicles manufactured between December 7, 2023, and September 9, 2024, and owner notification letters will be mailed on November 25, 2024.
The defective headlamp component could pose a safety hazard if drivers are unable to clearly distinguish between the turn signal and parking lamps, potentially leading to accidents.
