Kia America’s sales in the US market have experienced a slight decline compared to the same period last year. However, the automaker remains optimistic about its prospects, driven by strong growth in its electric vehicle (EV) and plug in hybrid (PHEV) lineup.
Despite a drop in sales, Kia has seen a significant increase in EV and PHEV sales, indicating a shift towards more sustainable and eco friendly vehicles.
Additionally, several individual models, including the Sportage, Forte, Carnival, and Seltos, have achieved record breaking sales for the year to date.
While Kia hasn’t introduced many completely new models this year, it has refreshed several existing ones, such as the K5 sedan, Carnival minivan, and Sorento SUV.
The automaker has also announced plans for upcoming updates, including a refresh for the popular Telluride SUV and a mid cycle facelift for the best selling Sportage. While the upcoming Kia Sportage refresh is undoubtedly exciting, it seems that some digital artists are already looking ahead to the next generation.
Giorgi Tedoradze, a Georgia based industrial designer, has presented a concept for a 2027 Kia Sportage that skips the mid cycle facelift and jumps straight to a sixth generation model.
Although unlikely to become a reality due to Kia’s current plans, Tedoradze’s design offers an intriguing look into what a more radical Sportage could look like.
