Mazda has recently expanded its SUV lineup in Australia with the introduction of two flagship models: the three-row CX-80 and the five seat CX-70. Both SUVs are built on the Large Product Group platform, offering rear wheel drive and all wheel drive options with a longitudinal engine layout.

While sharing similar underpinnings, these two models cater to different needs and preferences. The CX-80, priced from AUD 54,950, offers a spacious three row configuration with a choice of mild-hybrid gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a plug in hybrid option.

It provides ample room for families and those who frequently carry passengers. On the other hand, the CX-70, a five-seater SUV, prioritizes a dynamic driving experience and a luxurious interior.

It comes with two powerful engine options: a 3.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 3.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine, both paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The gasoline engine delivers 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the diesel engine produces 251 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

With its sleek design, spacious interior, and advanced technology, the CX-70 offers a compelling option for those seeking a premium driving experience without the need for a third row. Ultimately, the choice between the CX-80 and CX-70 depends on individual needs and priorities.

The Mazda CX-70, a two-row SUV flagship, is set to hit the market with two trims: GT and Azami, both equipped with standard rear-biased i-Activ AWD and a sophisticated suspension system comprising a front double wishbone and rear multi-link setup.

The Azami trim can be further enhanced with the SP Package, which adds luxurious touches like tan Nappa leather seats, a suede dashboard, and a two-tone steering wheel. Safety is a top priority, with features such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with Vehicle Exit Warning, and Smart Brake Support for various scenarios.

The CX-70 also introduces a new safety feature, Unresponsive Driver Support, as part of the Cruising and Traffic Support system. With pricing ranging from AUD 75,970 to 84,970 (approximately $51,000 to $57,000), the CX-70 is poised to make its debut later this month.
